Caleffi is a proud sponsor of the University of Arizona and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, two of 20 teams of universities and colleges participating in this year's Solar Decathlon hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy. The event is held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Each team's goal is to design, build and operate an aesthetically pleasing and energy efficient solar-powered house. A Caleffi Solar Water Heating System is an integral part of the house that the sponsored teams are constructing.
"The Solar Decathlon is a great opportunity for the next generation of solar professionals to use their creativity and innovation to spark new technologies and design elements that maximize energy efficiency," says Rex Gillespie, Caleffi's director of marketing. "It’s also an important venue for educating the public about the possibilities of renewable energy and the bright concepts to come."
Team competition is scheduled Oct. 8 - 16. The houses are open to the public Oct. 9 - 13 and Oct 15 - 18, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday - Friday, and 10 a.m. -5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
