Caleffi Thermostatic Mixing Valves, Zone Valves and our new FlowCal™ constant flow control valves are now certified by IAPMO to meet the new 2010 lead free standards implemented this January in California (0.63 MB) and Vermont (0.63 MB).

California state law (Assembly Bill 1953) now prohibits the introduction "into commerce any pipe, pipe or plumbing fittings, or fixture intended to convey or dispense water for human consumption through drinking or cooking that is not lead free." California Health and Safety Code Section 116875 defines lead-free as "not more than 0.2 percent lead when used with respect to solder and flux and not more than a weighted average of 0.25 percent when used with respect to the wetted surfaces of pipes and pipe fittings, plumbing fittings, and fixtures."

Vermont state law effective Jan. 1, 2010, states that "no person shall sell or offer for sale in or into the state of Vermont, or use in the state of Vermont, solder of flux for plumbing containing more than 0.2 percent of lead, or plumbing fixtures whose wetted surfaces contain more than a weighted average of 0.25 percent lead."

Thermostatic Mixing Valves
5213 Series scald protection valves are ASSE 1070 listed for safe operation in point-of-use applications such as sinks and faucets.

521 and 2521 Series valves are ASSE 1017 listed for point-of-distribution applications such as hot water heaters. The 2521 Series have especially high temperature ratings for use with solar thermal hot water heaters.

Caleffi's exclusive temperature gauge accessory, available in 3/4" and 1" union sweat, takes work out of passing safety scrutiny of mixed temperature values. A typical use is where mixed temperatures are subject to scald protection inspection such as in nursing homes.

Zone Valves
Four of Caleffi's patented Z-One™ zone valve bodies are now available as lead free.
Common potable applications include diverting solar pre-heat water to a backup instantaneous hot water heater, or for use with a fan coil in an open system.

FlowCal™
Caleffi's newly introduced FlowCal™ is a flow control valve that maintains flow rate regardless of differential pressure changes.

Common potable applications include use with an open fan coil system. In closed systems, they're ideal for controlling flow in any heat emitter including fan coils, base boards, panel radiators or single-zone radiant manifolds.
